FAQs

What should I do when the plants arrive?

Unpack and give your plants some water as soon as possible—but don't worry if they seem a bit stressed. They'll perk up in no time! Put them in a fairly bright area, but away from direct light while they are acclimating.

If your plant looks sad or stressed upon arrival, leave it in the shipping medium for a few days before repotting. (These plants can be repotted in any well-draining medium of your choice)

It can be completely normal for your new plants to be slightly dramatic once they arrive. Don't worry if you notice some yellowing on the tips or if you lose a leaf or two.

If your plants are dead on arrival, send us pictures immediately (within 24 hours) and we will work through what to do from there.

What are your shipping details?

We pack and ship orders Monday through Wednesday. We carefully pack each plant and use different materials to meet each plant’s sensitivity needs. Please keep an eye on your tracking number and know when your plant will arrive. The plants should be brought in immediately upon arrival. If you are going to be out of town or need us to hold the package for any reason, we are happy to do so.

Our plants are packed and shipped via USPS Priority which includes $100 of insurance for delays and handling damages. Claims require postmarked mailing receipt, proof of value of the shipment and the damaged goods. Unfortunately, the shipping process is out of our control and cannot be held responsible for damages during shipping

When can I repot my plants?

You can repot your plants after a waiting period that allows them to acclimate to their new environment. For those who are experienced with plant care, a minimum of one week may suffice. However, for most situations, it is recommended to wait at least 30 days before repotting. This waiting time ensures that the plants have adjusted well and reduces the risk of transplant shock.

What medium do you prefer?

We prefer to use sphagnum moss as the growing medium for our plants, including larger and more mature ones. Our experience has shown that sphagnum moss provides optimal and consistent water retention, which is beneficial for nearly all of the plant varieties that we cultivate.

What should I do if I repotted my plant and it's sad now?

If you’ve repotted your plant and it appears "sad," or is showing signs of distress, it is likely experiencing root damage. To help the plant recover, provide it with proper support and trim away any leaves that are drooping, yellow, or crispy. This is because the damaged root system may not be able to sustain all the existing foliage. Be cautious with watering—overwatering can exacerbate the issue. Monitor the plant closely; if the stem becomes soft or soggy, consider moving the plant back into sphagnum moss or starting a propagation process to save it.

Do you ship in the winter?

Yes, we ship year-round without any restrictions on location or season. We take the necessary precautions by checking the weather conditions prior to shipping and packaging the plants securely to ensure they are well-protected during transit. For winter shipments, we offer the option of including heat packs and provide a guarantee for live arrival on any purchase that comes with a heat pack, to give your plants the best chance of arriving safely to their new home.

On rare occasions we may hold an order for a week due to the weather and we'll make sure to keep you updated along way!

What if my plants show up damaged?

If your plants are damaged upon arrival, please inform us immediately after you open the package. We require photographs of both the package and the plants as they arrived to assist in the replacement process and to support any insurance claims. It is important to note that we cannot replace a plant that has been repotted or if we are notified about an issue several days after the delivery date. Prompt communication is essential for us to be able to help effectively.

How do I repot?

When repotting into soil, choose a time when the plant is not actively pushing new growth or when it appears to be in distress. Carefully remove as much of the moss as possible without damaging the roots, as our primary aim is to minimize root damage. If the moss cannot be removed without risking harm to the roots, it's perfectly fine to repot the plant with the moss rootball intact into your well-draining soil mix. This approach ensures a safer transition for the plant to its new growing medium.
