Bring home a piece of botanical history with the exquisite Episcia 'Longwood Gardens'. This rare and captivating houseplant combines evolutionary beauty with ease of care, making it a perfect addition to your indoor garden.
🌿 Key Features:
- Dark Leaf, Bright Veins: Very dark foliage with silver-to-gold veining running through it like somebody went at it with a highlighter. Depends on the light and its general mood.
- Neon Red Flowers: Reliably, and against that dark leaf they're absurd.
- Easy Tropical: Terrarium-friendly, not terrarium-dependent.
-
Fills a Basket Unsupervised: Fast, stoloniferous, low-drama. Named after a garden, behaves like a houseplant, looks like neither.
🌱 Plant Care Instructions:
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight, mimicking its natural habitat under the rainforest canopy.
- Water: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water when the top inch feels dry to the touch.
- Humidity: Enjoys higher humidity levels. Use a humidifier or a pebble tray to replicate tropical conditions.
- Temperature: Thrives in temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C).
- Soil: Use a well-draining potting mix suitable for African violets or tropical houseplants.

Plants came fast in great condition, already in bloom.
These plants were beautiful and arrived in perfect condition!
I have recently expanded my plant collection to include some Episcias. I purchased the longwood variety which arrived very well packaged and already had several flower buds. I worried that they would bloom given the stress of transport, but all of them did flower. They are a gorgeous orangey red which looks fantastic against the dark silver green leaves! Very happy with my purchase!
